In short: a gutter cleaning in Jacksonville usually costs $140–$250 for a one-story home and $220–$400 for two stories. Most houses here need it twice a year; homes under oaks and pines often need three or four visits. Every cleaning includes flushing the downspouts, not just scooping the trough.

Why Jacksonville gutters fill up on their own schedule
People who move here from up north expect one big leaf drop in the fall. That is not how it works on the First Coast. Our live oaks hold their leaves through winter and drop them all at once in late winter and spring, right as the new growth pushes them off. Then the pines shed needles heavily in the fall. Add the yellow oak and pine pollen that coats everything in March, and a gutter in Avondale or Mandarin can fill twice in a year from trees that never look bare.
That timing matters because the wettest months come right after. Jacksonville averages around 53 inches of rain a year, and June through September brings most of it. A gutter packed in April overflows by July.
What a cleaning includes
- Every run cleared by hand from a ladder, not blown off onto the roof.
- Each downspout checked and flushed; clogs at the elbows broken up or the elbow taken apart.
- Debris bagged and taken away, not left in your beds.
- A water test so we can see each run drain.
- A note of anything we spotted: loose hangers, a weeping corner, soft fascia, a downspout that empties against the slab.
| Cleaning | Estimated price | What changes it |
|---|---|---|
| One-story home | $140–$250 | Footage, how packed it is |
| Two-story home | $220–$400 | Ladder setup, steep sections |
| Downspout clog cleared (with a cleaning) | Usually included | Underground lines priced separately |
Cleaning prices here are estimates from local listings and cost guides. A badly packed system or a roof we cannot safely walk can change the figure; we tell you before we start.
How often, honestly
Twice a year suits most houses: once in late spring after the oak drop, once in late fall after the pines. Homes right under the canopy in Riverside, San Marco or Ortega often need a third visit, and if a big tree hangs over the roof a quarterly schedule usually costs less than repairing what overflow does to fascia. If the house has no trees close by, once a year may be plenty, and we will tell you so.
When cleaning is not the answer
If we are back every few months pulling handfuls of needles, guards are worth pricing. See gutter guards. If a run is holding water even when clean, it is a pitch problem, which is a repair, not a cleaning.
Gutter cleaning: questions
Do you clean gutters that have guards on them?
Yes. Guards cut down how often it is needed, but they still collect a mat of pollen and fine debris on top that needs brushing off.
Can you set up a regular schedule?
Yes. Most schedules are two or three visits a year timed around the spring oak drop and the fall pine drop.
Do I need to be home?
No, as long as we can reach every side of the house. We text when we are done.
