Building near the ocean changes the hardware
From the oceanfront homes along Ponte Vedra Boulevard to the houses around Sawgrass and Marsh Landing, salt is in the air every day. Aluminum gutters handle it well; plain steel screws and galvanized hangers do not. On Ponte Vedra jobs we use stainless fasteners and hangers, and on copper systems only copper or stainless touches the metal, so nothing streaks rust down the stucco after a year.
Bigger roofs, bigger gutters
Many Ponte Vedra homes are two stories with large, steep roof planes, deep overhangs and several valleys. That is a lot of water arriving at a few points in a coastal downpour. We size those walls for 6" gutter and 3×4 downspouts, add outlets under valleys, and keep downspouts in corners where they are less visible from the street.
Copper and half-round
Ponte Vedra has more copper and half-round gutters than anywhere else we work. They suit the Mediterranean, coastal and shingle-style houses here, and copper ages gracefully in salt air. Where a full copper system is more than the budget allows, half-round aluminum in a bronze or copper-tone finish gives the same line for much less. See copper and half-round gutters.
Architectural review
Most Ponte Vedra communities have an architectural review committee that wants gutter color and sometimes profile approved before work starts. We give you the product sheet and color details for the application and schedule the install once it is approved.
